A Story of a New Life
Once there wa a little seed. Someone took him from an envelope and planted him in the ground. "Oh, no!" said the seed. "What is happening to me? I don't' like this at all!" But then the rain came and watered the seed. The sun came and shined down on the seed. "Ah, this feels good," said the seed. And underneath the ground, it grew and grew. One day, it popped up above the ground and started growing leaves! "Hurray!" said the seed. "I wonder what is going to happen next?"
Discuss that the story of the seed helps us to remember that Jesus died and was buried but then he rose again into new life.

Discuss what season we are in now.(Spring) Discuss the season that comes after Spring(Summer). Season is a part of the year. In many places, each season has its own weather pattern. In some places the differences are great—between hot summers and snow winters. Closer to the equator, the differences are less noticeable. Weather during the different seasons follows the same basic pattern year after year. In most places, winter is the coldest time of year; in spring it gets warmer;summer is the hottest time of year;in fall it gets cooler.

The Seasons
Summer, winter, autumn, and sprig, what special things does each one bring? It's spring! When this season comes around, raindrops fall gently to the ground. It's summer! This season brings us butterflies. I love to watch them flutter by. It's autumn! This season brings us a cool breeze and leaves that fall down from the trees. It's winter! This season is the coldest of them all, the time when snowflakes gently fall.

Promise Booklet May 3, 2020 Jesus cares for us like a shepherd
Discuss with children that caring is the spirit of Jesus, the good shepherd and gate of the sheep pen. We are Jesus' sheep, and he is our Good Shepherd. He leads us to true happiness that will last. True happiness comes from following Jesus and doing his will. Jesus laid down his life so that we might have life to the fullest. We are made in God's image. We are called to reach out and to build relationships of love and justice.
Review Cover Activity
I can show I care. What does it mean to take care of someone? Who or what do you take care of? What caring actions do you see on the cover? Example: I can show I care by picking up litter like the children are on the grass.
Review Back Cover Activity
Jesus is our Good Shepherd. Talk about shepherds and how they care for their sheep, provide a safe pen for them, protect them from thieves and wolves, find them grass and water.
Have your child color the picture with crayons as you read them the Gospel:
Jesus was talking with some Pharisees. He told them: "Only robbers climb over the fence into a sheep pen. The one who comes in through the gate is the shepherd. The gatekeeper opens the gate for the shepherd. The sheep hear the shepherd's voice. He calls them by name and leads them out. He walks in front of them. The sheep know his voice and follow him. The sheep will not follow a stranger. The do not know the stranger's voice. They will run away from a stranger. I came so that my sheep might have full life."
Explain that Jesus cares for us and keeps us safe, we can care for others with our loving words and actions. This is the way people will see Jesus' caring Spirit in us.

Invite them to identify the people in the pews, the choir, and the gift bearers. Invite them to identify the priest, altar servers, lector, Eucharistic minister. Look at the church setting and identify the statues of Mary and Joseph, the crucifix, chairs, altar, ambo(lectern), stained-glass windows. Have you child to cut out the pictures (at the dark lines where you see a scissor picture, then fold at the dotted lines so the pictures can stand up.
