|AdvancED is a voluntary, non-governmental, association that is dedicated to quality assurance and improvement of education through accreditation. Schools that undertake this process under go a thorough evaluation culminating in a site inspection. Our school was accredited in 2013 and we have had two school visits: School Year 2015-2016 and School Year 2016-2017.
Stakeholders contribution is an integral and essential component of the accreditation process. One of the ways this is accomplished is through the completion of surveys targeted at specific areas of the school community.
An Important Message from JoAnn Tier, Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Trenton:
With a concentrated study of Catholic elementary schools in the diocese, the Department of Catholic Schools and elementary and secondary principals have reviewed and assessed the needs of our schools to ensure stability and viability.
To support these goals, they have chosen to utilize a new accrediting agency, AdvancED, to guide schools as they form their future. The Middle States Association has served schools in the Diocese of Trenton as schools became initially accredited. As continued growth and viability is sought, our schools will be accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), an accreditation division of AdvancED .
NCA CASI provides nationally-recognized accreditation, the purpose of which is continuous school improvement focused on increasing student performance. In earning accreditation, schools will meet NCA CASI’s high standards, be evaluated by a team of professionals from outside the school and implement a continuous process of school improvement. NCA CASI accreditation assures parents that the school is meeting nationally accepted standards for quality and successful professional practice.
Working with NCA CASI/AdvancED, the Department of Catholic Schools and elementary and secondary administrators are committed to ensure stability, viability, quality and growth in our schools. The accreditation process assists by identifying issues and developing strategic plans for improvement; incorporating a standards-driven and student centered approach with an emphasis on student performance; providing professional development and leadership opportunities; and, ensuring community involvement at all levels.
NCA CASI is one of three divisions of AdvancED which has accredited over 32,000 institutions in over 70 countries and has served over 20 million students.
Dr. Mark Elgart, President/CEO of AdvancED, the parent organization of NCA CASI, stated “NCA CASI Accreditation is a rigorous process that focuses the entire school on the primary goal of creating lifelong learners.”
